Brew ratio
The proportion of coffee to water in a brew, such as 1:16 for filter or 1:2 for espresso.
Brew ratio is written as coffee-to-water by weight. Espresso is concentrated (around 1:2), filter is diluted (around 1:15–1:17), with other methods in between.
Keeping the ratio consistent is the foundation of repeatable coffee — change one thing at a time from there.
Why it matters for small spaces
A ratio plus a scale lets you reproduce a great cup exactly, which is cheaper and more reliable than buying new equipment.
